CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2025 AWARDEES
The five 2025 awardees are: Morehshin Allahyari, Jacqueline Kiyomi Gork, Dan Lie, Kenneth Tam, and Stella Zhong. These artists represent a diversity of Asian diasporic identities and their art practices speculate on time, space, technology, our environments and spirituality. They challenge us to think more critically about our contemporary culture and tie it back to ancient histories. They were selected through a rigorous process involving our outstanding nomination and selection committees.
The Gold Art Prize, administered by art advisor Kelly Huang of KCH Advisory and Gold House, is a first-of-its-kind biennial award to support artists from the Asian diaspora. Five awardees are selected each cycle and each receives a $25,000 unrestricted cash prize, sponsored by the Kahng Foundation. Awardees are also included in Gold House Futures, an initiative that gives leading next-generation creatives, entrepreneurs, and social impact leaders opportunities for exposure and mentorship. A catalogue is published for each award cycle, featuring essays and artist interviews, as a means to support and create new scholarship about artists from the Asian diaspora.
Our focus is on contemporary emerging or mid-career artists from the Asian diaspora for whom the exposure and cash prize would make a significant impact at this moment in their career. The artists must have had a solo exhibition or project at an arts institution (i.e. museum, collecting or non-collecting). It was also important to us that our awardees reflect diversity in practice, gender, ethnicity, and other critical identities that represent the vast API diaspora.
